EFI staat voor Electronic Fuel Injection en is ontworpen om snel en op een zeer efficiënte manier brandstof aan de motor te leveren, zodat je auto soepel loopt, topprestaties levert en zo min mogelijk brandstof verbruikt. Een EFI-systeem bestaat uit een brandstofpomp, brandstofinjectoren, sensoren en een motorbesturingseenheid (ECU). Brandstof wordt vanuit de tank via een brandstofpomp naar een brandstofinjectierail gepompt en vervolgens naar individuele injectoren die rechtstreeks in het inlaatspruitstuk zijn geplaatst.
